November 2001-Now, Shih Bvba, Heverlee, Belgium
CEO Shih Bvba http://www.shih.be
· Founder and CEO of Shih BVBA
· Development and project management of the website http://www.photoalto.com. The company holds exclusive distribution rights on 50.000+ high quality images usable by graphic professionals in their creations.
· Developped the data mining software Shih Data Miner.
· Technologies used: Java, Swing, JDBC, Java Servlets, JSP, Java RMI, Java Mail, Java Sockets, Java Threads, MySQL, PHP 4 and 5, Regular Expressions, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, DHTML, Ruby, Ajax, Mac OS X Tiger, XML, Linux, Shell Programming, Subversion, FreeBSD Unix .
Sept. 2000–Jan 2004, Universities Gent-Leuven, R&D Belgium, Gent-Leuven
Research and development, project leader in data mining algorithms
· Project leader for the development of tree classifiers in the University of Ghent. I designed and developed a data mining algorithm for a major financial EU project. The algorithms are applied to predict stock market quotes and financial time series.
· Postgraduate studies at the University of Leuven, Belgium, since Sept 2000-Sept 2001. Master of Statistics, cum laude and Master of Artificial Intelligence, magna cum laude.
· SAS, SPSS, Java, Swing, JDBC, MySQL, RMI, XML.
Aug. 1997–Aug. 2000, Citibank, Senior Credit Scoring Analyst, Santiago, Chile
Senior Scoring Analyst (Risk and Credit Policies Department)
· I developed and installed credit scoring models for card acquisitions. The development software was built in C and ran under the LINUX operating system. The model was the result, of a supervised method, based on partial least square regression (PLSR).
· I was in charge of the information system for monitoring the performance of the credit model which, due to its high level of accuracy, is been used automatically, for credit cards and personal loans granting. It helped replace human resources in the decision process of loan assignment, minimize risk/reward and standardize decisions for all clients.
· I was in charge of the development and application of predictive models, using decision trees, to support credit granting. The models were used for massive credit granting purposes such as marketing campaigns and credit line increases.
· C, C++, SAS, SPSS, Linux.
Mar. 1995–Aug. 1997, AutoMind, Expert Systems, Santiago, Chile
Risk management consultants. Development of Expert Systems and Decision tree tools applied to loan granting in the financial sector.
· I developed a software, AutoExpert to build decision tree classifiers. Using Borland C++ 4.5 as programming language. The split algorithm was based on a differentiable extension of the Kolmogorov Smirnov distance measure. It enables one to work with fuzzy data, noisy measurements, and multiple class partnership. The software induced models based on supervised learning from historical data, enabling to predict and classify a client's risk before or after a loan grant.
· I was project manager for the installation and development of decision trees in the financial company Colmena, in Bogota, Colombia (using AutoExpert). The decision trees are used to approve or reject cards, consumer, and mortgage loans.
· I participated in the development of decision trees for the granting of consumer, credit cards and mortgage loans in the Bank of Chile.
· C++ .
Jan. 1994–Mar. 1994 & Dec. 1994–Mar.1995, Andueza & Compañía, Insurance Brokers, Santiago, Chile
Project leader in Insurance Company (IT projects)
· I developed a software that automatically creates an insurance proposal in Word format, linking itself with an access data base. The system automates document generation allowing reducing time to more than a third.
· I improved and implemented a software to monitor all the faxes, cards and memos sent by the company to their clients. It allowed standardizing, automating and keeping track of all the documents sent by the insurance executives reducing operative time to more than a third.
· I developed a software in dBase for accessing bibliographic information of the company, working with relational databases.
· Visual Basic, Pascal, dBase, MS Access .
Mar. 1994 - Dec. 1995 1995, University of Chile, Santiago, Chile
Assistant professor Engineering : exercise lessons, exams correction
· Assistant professor of Calculus (1st year students)
· Assistant professor of Physics (1st year students)
